The Pella football team will open their season on the road at Newton tomorrow night. Newton, who has been a long time Class 4A school and member of the always powerful CIML, has dropped down to Class 3A this season and Coach Jay Mckinstrey says even though it’s the season opener, he know it’s going to be a very tough football game, and carry almost a playoff like atmosphere. He says Newton is a successful 4A team coming down to 3A and they prepare like a 4A team and still carry that mentality. In addition he says the town of Newton really supports their football so he expects a huge crowd on both sides of the field. He says they are very excited to play the Cardinals in the season opener however, and looks forward to seeing what they can do. He says as in any season opening game mistakes will be made and some weaknesses will be exposed, which will show them where they need to improve.

You can hear tomorrow’s game live on 92.1 FM KRLS with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema starting with the pre game at 7pm and kickoff at 7:30pm. It will also be streamed live on kniakrls.com
