The last couple years Pella football has run primarily the spread offense using as many as five receivers, however this year Coach Jay Mckinstrey says they plan to switch things up a bit offensively, and one position that may benefit from that is the tight end. He says Jake Wasnaar, Taylor Venteicher, Jace Versteeg and Isaac Peasley are the leading candidates for the position. Mckinstrey says he’s been pleased with what he’s seen from those four in the pre season and says they will definitely be on the field more and be used as blockers as well as receivers. He says they’ll still use the spread from time to time also. Pella opens their season Friday at Newton.
