Work on a major street project in Pella is expected to start early next week. That’s the word from the project’s contractor, Norris Asphalt, which aims to begin work on an asphalt overlay on the south side of Pella on Monday, August 16th. Originally scheduled for mid-June, the project was pushed back as the result of other work being delayed by the heavy rains this summer.

The project is being funded through federal dollars from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), of which the City of Pella received roughly $354,000. Work will affect an eight-block stretch that starts on South Main Street and turns into Oskaloosa Street near Pella Corporation. The milling and resurfacing project will close the road once work begins and is expected to take two to three weeks to complete.
