The Pella Christian coaching staff seems excited about the potential for this year’s team, and fans got their first look at the 2010 Eagles squad during Pella Christian’s intra-squad scrimmage last night. One of the players that should garner some extra attention this season is senior quarterback Kyle Nikkel.

The three-year starter will again guide the Eagles’ offense this season, and Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski says he’s very pleased with the work that Nikkel put in during the offseason. He says that Nikkel’s work in the weightroom, as well as quarterback camps and an emphasis on improved footwork have paid dividends for Nikkel; who should benefit from the return of leading rusher Bret Nieuwsma and top receiver Trey Hugen.

The Eagles make the move up to Class 2-A this season, and will start the 2010 campaign this coming Friday night when they host Des Moines Christian.
