The Pella Community School District will receive around $418,000 as the result of Congress passing the Federal Jobs Bill. That update was given at Monday night’s Pella School Board meeting. One of the things the district had previously been approved to do with the funds is add a seventh section of fifth grade.

In other business, the Pella School Board received a report on the school’s hot lunch and nutrition program in relation to the Healthy Kids Act, which has most noticeably impacted the a la carte food items available to students. The board also selected Marv VanWyk to serve as the school’s representative in the Iowa Association of School Board’s Delegate Assembly, approved changes in the language of the district’s facilities rental policy, and approved a payment in the amount of $21,929 to TK Concrete of Pella for work on the new parking lot north of the bus barn at the High School.
