An editorial submitted to a medical journal by a nurse at Pella Regional Health Center helped influence decisions at the Federal level that will allow the hospital continue to offer a vital service. Laura Beyer, Dialysis Manager at Pella Regional wrote the piece for the July edition of Nephology News, which was read into the Congressional Record by Senator Charles Grassley on July 15th. As a result, the definition of a low-volume end stage renal disease facility was modified so that Pella Regional Health Center qualified for payment assistance to continue to offer dialysis services.
