Senior leaders like Kyle Nikkel, Sam Tvedt and Zach Dunsbergen certainly played a large role in the Pella Christian football team’s 28-20 win over Des Moines Christian on Friday night, but the team also saw major contributions from some of its juniors and seniors.

Four out of the five offensive linemen for the Eagles were juniors and helped clear the path for sophomore running back Caleb Morgan and junior ballcarrier Caleb Frederickson – who combined for 95 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Morgan also added nine tackles from the linebacker position.

Pella Christian Head Football Coach Rich Kacmarynski attributes much of the success of the younger athletes to the hard work the put in during the offseason, while also crediting their senior teammates for establishing a strong work ethic. Pella Christian returns to the gridiron on Friday in Van Meter to face the Bulldogs in non-district play.
