Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson says he is pleased with FEMA’s response thus far as they assist area flood victims. Anderson says he has received good feedback from Marion County residents who registered with FEMA and the majority of homeowners are receiving their financial assistance within 1 to 3 days. Anderson says the numbers he has received from FEMA prove that this year’s flooding was more widespread than the floods of 2008 and as of yesterday 262 people in Marion County applied for federal assistance thus far, for a total of just over $296,000 in housing assistance.

As previously reported, FEMA will be setting up an office at the new Public Health building September 13-26th to help residents register and offer one-on-one case management. KNIA/KRLS news will bring you more information on office hours and availability when it becomes available.
