Posting its lowest team score since 2008, the Central College men’s golf team finished a strong third at the 10-team Grand View Classic Monday.

After shooting 291 Sunday, the 25th ranked Dutch came back with a 286 in windy conditions at the par-71 Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny. Three Central players matched par Monday. Justin Livingston took third in the medalist standings with 141. Brent Goodenow had 144, Travis Havens shot 145, Jason Harvey shot 148 and Brent Messmore finished with 152.

Meanwhile Central’s second unit, the White team, placed second in the 11-team Clarke University Fall Classic at Dubuque. The Dutch made a second-round run for the lead and fell 2 strokes shy of tournament champion Mount Mercy. Central shooting 617. Anthony Houge had his best collegiate showing, tying for second with 150 at the par-72 Thunder Hills Country Club in Dubuque.

Central will take two teams to the 32-team Dubuque Fall Classic at the Eagle Ridge North Golf Course in Galena, Ill. The field will include three nationally ranked NCAA Division III squads and three ranked NAIA teams.
