The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced that they will keep the Marion County Mobile Disaster Recovery Center open for an extended period next week. Originally the recovery center was scheduled to only be open through this Saturday but due to the number of residents who have visited thus far, the center is currently scheduled to be open through next week as well. However, FEMA spokesman John Mills says if you want to meet face-to-face with a FEMA specialist, you need to act quickly as an announcement that the disaster recovery center will close could come at any time.
So far more than 400 Marion County households have registered for possible FEMA assistance and residents of more than 100 homes have visited the local disaster recovery center. FEMA has approved grants for more than $500,000 for Marion County homeowners or renters who suffered flood or storm damage this summer.
The Marion County Mobile Disaster Recovery Center is located at 2003 North Lincoln Street in Knoxville and is open weekdays from 9am until 7pm and Saturday from noon until 5pm.
