The Knoxville School Board discussed opportunities for using the Federal Education Jobs Act funds at their meeting Tuesday. The one time appropriation allocates $388,372 for the district which will be paid out on a monthly basis in fiscal year 2011 and must be spent by September 30th of 2012. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says all public schools in the country will receive these funds to retain or replace positions lost due to budget issues the last couple years. The money must be spent on personnel at the building level and the board is looking to use the money to retain positions for the next school year.
