A Marion County resident was recently inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame. Janet Ritchie of Knoxville was one of 131 Iowans from 89 counties honored at the annual induction ceremony during the Iowa State Fair. Ritchie’s nomination form, submitted by the Marion County ISU Extension Office says she is a 4-H volunteer in the true sense of the word. Her career as a 4-H volunteer started in 1967 when a neighbor asked her to help out with the Dalcher Go Getters 4-H Club, now she is in her 32nd year as leader of the County Crusaders Club. She has served as Marion County’s Visual Arts leader and currently is a member of the 4-H & Youth Committee. One of her biggest goals is for her club members to treat each other with respect and her biggest reward is seeing the beginning members turn into the outstanding adults they are today.

The 4-H Hall of Fame was initiated in 2002 and honors individuals for their exceptional work in contributing to the lives of 4-H members and the overall 4-H program.
