Pella Christian swept Knoxville in three games last night in volleyball action 25-12, 25-15, and 25-9. Knoxville Coach Lindsey Anderson said the team came out with a much better effort than in past matches. She added the first two games was probably the best the team has played all season.
While the Panthers struggled to find their rhythm offensively, Pella Christian found a nice even balance in its attacks, led by Jenna Horstman’s 7 kills; while setter Sarah Faber finished the night with 20 assists. The Lady Eagles also got 3 aces from the service line out of Ashley Van Kooten, who was a leader on defense as well, with a team-high 18 digs.
With the win, Pella Christian is now 7-2 overall, and will take part in tournament play at Iowa City West tomorrow. Doane Hedlund was seven-for-seven in serving with three aces, and Steph Formanek was five-for-five. Knoxville is now 0-7 on the season.
