The Pella Police Department has announced that they will hire two new patrol officers. Pella Police Chief Michael Marcinkowski told KNIA/KRLS News that he hopes to have one new officer in by October and the other shortly after. The positions came open after one officer, Eric Hoffman, went to work with the Department of Natural Resaurses and the other opening will come when LT. John Van Haaften retires. Chief Marcinkowski said that even though that won’t happen until April, they wanted to bring someone in now to learn the position.
