Led by three top-ten finishes on both teams, the Pella cross country squads continued to shine on the course, as they swept first place honors at yesterday’s meet at Ballard.  The girls team finished 14 points in front of second place Dallas Center-Grimes; as Gabby Merrick placed 2nd, and Hannah Martin and Sarah Wittenberg finished in 6th and 7th, respectively.

The boys’ race was much closer, as the Little Dutch edged out Boone by just one point.  Pella’s Zach Buchheit had the top overall time, while teammates Evan Jones and Keegan Fitzsimmons finished in 7th and 10th places.

Pella Head Coach Doug Cutler said he was pleased with the way both teams responded to a short weather delay and soggy conditions to meet the goals set for themselves.  The Pella Cross County teams will compete next on Saturday in the Des Moines Roosevelt invite.
