Two area businesses concerned about the ground maintenance contract awarded for mowing services at the Knoxville VA campus have submitted appeals. Dave and the Boys of Pella submitted a formal protest to the Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines yesterday, while Clark’s Lawn Care of Pleasantville filed a complaint to Congressman Boswell and Senators Tom Harkin and Charles Grassley. Both companies submitted bids for the mowing contract that were less than half of the bid by Crossroads Hall in Knoxville who was awarded the contract for $871,000.
