As harvest season approaches many area farmers will be out on the roadways with large equipment and residents are encouraged to use extra caution especially on gravel roads. Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat says often these large pieces of equipment take up the majority of two lane highways and it is important for motorists to slow down and be alert when approaching farm machinery. Goemaat also encourages drivers to be cautious if they have to pull off to the side to allow the machinery to pass as some of the shoulders may be soft due to all the rain we have had this spring and summer.
