After 12 years as the Pella Community Schools Superintendent and over 39 years of service over all, Mark Wittmer announced that he will retire at the end of this school year.  Wittmer says that it is a bittersweet feeling because of the great people that work alongside him and everyone in the community but he does feel like it is time to move on to the next phase in his life.  There has been no talk of a replacement yet but Wittmer says that the board hopes to make a decision on a replacement by February 1st.  Wittmer’s last day as Superintendent will be June 30th, 2011.
