With the weather cooling off and a hard freeze predicted in Marion County overnight, allergy sufferers may finally experience some relief. Greg Clodfelter, pharmacist at the Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Knoxville says that hay fever, pollen and plant allergies should be nearing an end once the ground freezes. Joel Shields, pharmacist at Crown Pharmacy in Pella says that ordinarily once there is a hard frost it will minimize almost all allergies, but due to the rain this year, not all allergies will cease. Both pharmacists agree that rain and mild temperatures cause more allergies, something Shields says could keep certain allergies around for a while.
