Central College volleyball libero Chelsea Grieger (junior, Pella) and football kicker Jake Viggers have received Iowa Conference player of the week honors.
Grieger was cited as the league’s libero/defensive specialist of the week after she racked up 116 digs and eight service aces in five matches last week, including 31 digs in a four-set victory over Cortland State and she was named to the all-tournament team at the Salisbury Invitational in Maryland last weekend. It’s the fourth time Grieger has received league player of the week recognition and the third time this season.
Viggers was named the conference football special teams player of the week. He converted 6 of 6 extra point tries and also booted a 31-yard field goal in Central’s 45-26 victory at Luther College Saturday. He’s connected on 34 of 34 extra point tries this season.
