A Knoxville native who is part of the Iowa State University Meat Judging Team recently received a perfect score in an intercollegiate competition. Lori Klootwyk correctly placed all 10 contest classes correctly, earning a perfect 500 points at the recent American Royal Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest. Klootwyk eared first place overall and according to contest organizers this feat had not been accomplished in recent memory. The Iowa State University team placed 12th overall and tied for 3rd with Oklahoma State University in contest divisions. The team is now preparing for their final contest – The International which will take place in Dakota City, Nebraska in November.
