After months of discussion, the Knoxville School Board made some final decisions on the future of the GOAL Alternative School and the Trabert Center at their meeting last night. After evaluating a variety of different options the board unanimously voted to move the GOAL Alternative School to East Elementary. The move will not happen until the 2011-2012 school year and GOAL will only take up a portion of the building. The board agreed to make only the necessary improvements to East Elementary in order to preserve as much money as possible in the district’s general fund.

In addition, the board also approved the sale of the Trabert Center to the Marion County Agricultural Extension District for a price of $100,000. The Extension Office agreed to let the district finish up the current school year and will retain ownership of the building next summer.
