The Knoxville school district has begun experimenting with providing transportation for middle school students. Buses will run from East and Northstar Elementary to the middle school on a temporary basis for 2-3 weeks at which time the school board will evaluate whether or not to add this service on a permanent basis. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says though transportation has not been an issue thus far, with the colder months coming there are concerns with students walking on portions of the city that do not have sidewalks, especially once the snow falls. Adding an additional driver to provide the service to and from East will cost the district approximately $4,000.
