Starting on Tuesday, work will officially begin on the North Main Street reconstruction project. Pella Public Works Director Denny Buyert tells KNIA/KRLS News that they have been doing some utility relocation but the street closures and detour route will go into effect on Tuesday. The detour will be Broadway Street from Big Rock Park Road to Washington Street. The paving will not be removed or repaved until next spring after Tulip Time so there will only be temporary closures and removals to allow for new utility crossings. The contractor plans to start on new water main construction at Jefferson Street and continue north, but will contact individual homeowners as they anticipate driveway removals and closures.
