Pella Christian played arguably their best volleyball of the postseason in Bloomfield last night, moving one step away from the state tournament with a three-game sweep of Davis County. The Lady Eagles trailed only briefly at the beginning of game one, before unleashing a barrage of great serves, well-timed blocks and powerful hits, on their way to wins by scores of 25-12, 25-9, and 25-10.
While every player performed well, Jasmin Schelhaas might have stood out the most for Pella Christian, as the junior led the team in digs (15) and aces (6), to go along with five kills and a strong night of passing the ball. Other leaders for the Lady Eagles included Ashley Van Kooten – who had 14 digs; Jenna Horstman – who slammed home a game-high 11 kills; Meredith Fopma – who had 10 kills; and Sarah Faber – who had 25 assists and was perfect from the service line.
The win sets Pella Christian up to face Bondurant-Farrar in Carlisle on Tuesday night, with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
