On Monday night, the Pella Fire Department was called to two grass fires that turned out to be controlled burns. One resident called in his controlled burn to the County but the other resident had not. Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkum says that it’s very important to call controlled burns in to your local police department so the fire department doesn’t get called out to the scene. The Pella Fire Department extinguished the burn that was not called in.
