After back to back lengthy road trips, Pella comes home to the friendly turf tonight to host Fairfield on senior night in their final regular season home game, and a win will earn them the outright Class 3A District Seven title.

Pella coach Jay Mckinstrey says Fairfield is a very tough team, and arguably could be the best team they’ll face in the regular season. He says they are definitely the biggest team they’ve faced as their offensive and defensive line averages around 265 pounds, so they’ll definitely be outsized, but he says he hopes Pella’s quickness will win out in the end.

He says offensively Fairfield has a lot of weapons and they run a lot of formations and the Pella defense will have to be ready for something different every play.

Defensively Fairfield is second in the district behind Pella and has only allowed 20 points in the second half this season, and that was two weeks ago in the loss to Oskaloosa, while Pella leads the state, only allowing an average of 3.3 points per game.
