It’s sure to be another exciting post season for football in Pella, as both Pella and Pella Christian have secured post season berths with two regular season games remaining, now the final two games will determine which seed they will receive in their district.

After Friday’s games, Pella remains the lone undefeated team in Class 3A District Seven and leads the way, and will host Fairfield this coming Friday then end the regular season at Fort Madison. Regardless of the outcome of those games, the Little Dutch will finish no worse than third in the district and if they win one of their final two games will earn the district title and be guaranteed a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

In Class 2A District Eight, Pella Christian and PCM have both locked up post season berths, but there are several scenarios that could play out. Pella Christian and PCM remain tied for second , a game behind leader Bondurant Farrar. The Eagles have the head to head tie breaker over PCM should they end in a tie. Like Pella, regardless of the outcome the final two weeks, the Eagles will finish no worse than third, and could still win the district title, but would need some help to do so. If Bondurant Farrar beats Clarke this week as expected, PCM wins their final two games over I-35 and Bondurant Farrar, and Pella Christian beats both Shenendoah and Clarke as expected, the district would end in a three way tie and Bondurant Farrar holds the tie breaker based on points as of now, so Pella Christian would finish second based on their win over PCM with the Mustangs finishing third, giving the Eagles a first round home game while PCM would go on the road first round, however, if Pella Christian would lose one of their final two games, PCM could still win the district by winning their final two games. The PCM vs Bondurant Farrar game in two weeks will more than likely be the determining factor as to who finishes where.
