Approximately 1,000 Iowans are killed each year by seasonal influenza and complications of the illness and now is the time to make sure you and your family are protected against the disease. Judi Van Hulzen with Marion County Public Health says the flu can lead to more serious diseases especially for the young and old. Fortunately, Van Hulzen says there is great community support in the area and plenty of opportunities to get vaccinated. This year’s flu vaccine includes three different strains, including the H1N1 vaccine. Flu vaccines are available at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics, Pella Regional Health Center and most pharmacies throughout Marion County.
