A 28 year-old Des Moines man and his brother rolled their vehicle multiple times Sunday afternoon shortly after six on Hwy 14, approximately 1/2 mile north of Quebec in southern Marion County. Officials on the scene told KNIA/KRLS news that the driver of the small sedan lost control over the vehicle and that it rolled multiple times. Columbia Fire and Rescue, Melcher-Dallas Fire and Rescue, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders learned that the 28 year old male had been thrown partially out of the vehicle during the rollover, sustaining serious neck and back injuries, among others. Given the serious nature of the injuries, Methodist helicopter responded to the scene to transport the injured individual to Iowa Methodist. Traffic on Hwy 14 was diverted for approximately one-half hour as the helicopter landed on the highway to pick up the injured individual for transport. Officials listed the man’s condition as stable as the helicopter left the scene. No name was released. KNIA/KRLS news will provide additional information as it becomes official.
