With colder weather right around the corner, it’s time start cleaning out our gardens and making sure that certain vegetables don’t freeze. Sheryl Nunnikhoven, owner of Dutch Meadows Garden Center in Pella says that it’s important to make sure that the tops of sweet potatoes do not freeze. Nunnihoven adds that it’s a good thing to clean the garden and remove tomato vines because the leaves hold fungus spores. She says to just get the leaves away from the garden and set them in a compost bin.
