The Pella Christian volleyball team is headed back to the State Tournament for the fourth consecutive year, following a gritty win over Bondurant-Farrar in last night’s Regional Final at Carlisle.

The Bluejays won the first game 25-23, but the Lady Eagles came back to win the second game 25-16, and were impressive in a 25-16 win in the pivotal third game.

The fourth game was close all the way through, with Bondurant-Farrar looking likely to force a fifth game.  However, Pella Christian dug in for one final push and were able to close out the game with strong play at the net to win 26-24.

Pella Christian’s Sarah Faber dished out an impressive 38 assists, and hitters Meredith Fopma and Jenna Horstman tallied 15 and 11 kills, respectively.  Horstman also played well at the net on defense, adding 4 blocks; while teammate Paige Zylstra stuffed the Bluejays 3 times.  Ashley Van Kooten was the team’s digs leader with 31.

Pella Christian will face Lake Mills in the opening round of the State Volleyball Tournament, with the match set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 11th, at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
