Thirteen members of the Central College football team recently received all-Conference honors. The All-Iowa Conference selections for the Dutch had a heavy influence from Southeast Polk High School, as graduates Shane Wong, Nate Snead, Jeremy Snead and Jake Viggers all earned first-team honors. Wong was also the league’s defensive MVP. Other first team selections for Central included Jake Peterson, Mike Furlong, Lee Schroeder and Greg Best.
Earning Second-Team recognitions were Joey Shoemaker, Kurtis Brondyke, Jordan Leuschen, Ryan Schmidt and Austin Hill. Keith Rush, Brady Hill and Casey Tanner all earned Honorable Mentions. Central compiled an 8-2 overall record with a 6-2 conference mark, good for a third-place finish. The Dutch are ranked No. 24 in the AFCA Division III coaches’ poll and have not had a losing season since 1960.
