The Central College men’s soccer team saw it’s season come to a close last night in Dubuque, as the Dutch fell to top-seeded Wartburg 2-1 in the semifinals of the Io Conference Tournament. All three of the game’s goals came within ten minutes of each other during a fast-paced stretch in the second half. Senior midfielder Cody Jandik scored the lone goal for the Dutch, getting a header past the Wartburg keeper in the 72nd minute. Kyle McKenna scored both goals for the Knights.
The Central men finish the season with an overall record of 13-5, and end the year in fourth place in the Iowa Conference – up from a 9-10 record and sixth place in 2009. The Dutch will lose five seniors to graduation, including leading scorer Brett McKenzie and Pella native Quincy Garner.
