The Knoxville City Council adopted a new policy last week for the reimbursement of insurance deductible costs up to $500 on employee personal vehicles that are damaged while performing official duties. City Manager Dick Schrad says this policy applies primarily to volunteer fire fighters who use their own personal vehicles to respond to rescue to calls. The property and liability insurance coverage for all personal vehicles will remain the responsibility of the employee but the city will absorb a portion of the additional cost if an accident does occur during official use. Schrad says they estimate the budget impact will be less than $500 per year.
