Knoxville’s Corey Derby began his new job Monday as the latest addition to our local Police Department. Derby says he knew from a young age that he wanted to be a police officer and was very pleased when the opportunity to serve the Knoxville community became available this past summer. Derby is currently training with his fellow officers and will attend the police academy in January. He says there is a lot to learn and take in but everyone he has worked with thus far has been very welcoming and helpful and he looks forward to learning the daily tasks of a Knoxville police officer.
