One of the finest Christmas light displays around returns to the area this evening. Starting at 5:15 this afternoon, “Dutch Christmas in the Country” will begin it’s 19th consecutive year in Pella. Owner and operator John De Vries says that last season was supposed to be the final time for the lights on his property but the Scott Bailey family helped him set everything up to have the lights once again. De Vries says that he has been working for the past three weeks to make sure that everything is in place for the big day. Throughout the years De Vries has added more lights, a Dutch Village and replicas of the church and home he grew up in in the Netherlands. The event will run from 5:15pm-10:30pm until December 31st and is free and open to the public.
