For weeks motorists traveling on highway 14 in Knoxville have dealt with lane closures as repairs are made to the road. The good news is, the end is in sight. Doug Sharp of Midwest Contractors Incorporated, a company based out of Cedar Falls that was contracted for the project by the Iowa Department of Transportation, tells KNIA/KRLS news crews are ahead of schedule. The company has been working on patch repair and replacement of transition joints on highway 14 and Sharp says the final piece, located near the intersection of Robinson Street, should be completed today and crews should have everything cleaned up and all lanes back open by the end of the day tomorrow. The project was originally scheduled to be completed by November 10th. Sharp says the repairs have gone very smoothly and everyone in Knoxville has been very generous and cooperative as his crews work to complete the project.
