The Knoxville City Council met in regular session last night.  At the meeting, the council, Police Chief Dan Losada, Fire Chief Mike Roberts, Sheriff Ron Goemaat, County Supervisor Sam Nichols, City Manager Dick Schrad, City Attorney Bob Stuyvesent and Mayor Don Zoutte discussed who should be financially responsible for the medical bills of prisoners arrested by the police department prior to being booked into the Marion County jail.  After much discussion the group decided to hold a future meeting to discuss the matter after getting figures so the council can try and get an idea how much these bills could amount to.  The council also approved the purchase of radar equipment for the police department which will be reimbursed by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau grant, approved the hiring of Paramedic Specialist Greg Higginbotham who will begin full time with the Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department on December 1st, approved a policy stating the city will pay up to $500 of city employee’s insurance deductible for when their personal vehicles are damaged in official use and advised Public Works Director Jeff May to continue to move forward with applications for State Resolving Fund monies and execution of the I JOBS grant agreement for the Waste Water Treatment Plant Equalization Basin.
