Cold weather may be frustrating to residents but some local business owners actually benefit from the winter months. Amy Stravers from Stravers True Value in Pella says that their business does increase due to individuals purchasing things to help winterize their home. Mike Schuring, owner of Franklin Street Clothing in Pella says that with the change of season, people need warmer clothes and frequently stop by his store. Donna Hunt at Knoxville Farm and Home says they have had steady business so far this fall. She says this is typically a time of year they look forward to as things stay steady through the fall and pick up toward the middle of November when they get added business from Christmas Shoppers. With the weather expected to continue to cool off within the next several weeks, it’s important to remember to prepare for an Iowa winter.
