The Pella Christian and PCM girls basketball teams each had some impressive moments in the season-opener last night, but in the end the Lady Eagles were just too much; as they claimed a 70-55 win on their home court.

Pella Christian’s Jasmin Schelhaas led the team with 14 points, but left the game in the fourth quarter after landing awkwardly as she was fouled in the act of shooting.  Paige Zylstra also chipped in 12 points, as the Lady Eagles maintained the 15-point margin they had built by halftime.

PCM’s Stephanie Hayden was the game’s leading scorer – pouring in 22 points for the Mustangs; while teammate Jordan Wood added 14.  Pella Christian plays again tonight, as the Lady Eagles will travel to Albia to face the Lady Dees.
