A pair of girls youth soccer teams from Pella recently returned from a very successful competition in Kansas City. The squads are part of the Pella Premier Soccer club and took part in the Heartland Invitational Soccer Tournament last Saturday and Sunday. The event is the largest youth soccer tournament in the Midwest, with over 240 teams representing nine states.

The Under-14 girls team from Pella – coached by Colin Kuchy and Dan Vande Lune – won all three games in their pool to advance to the championship game, where they finished as runner-up in their division. Another squad of girls under twelve years old lost their first game, but came back to win their pool, advancing all the way to the championship game, which they won 2-0. That squad was coached by Kyle Halfpop, Mike Buchheit and Shelby Austin.

The Pella Premier Soccer program is a division within the Pella Soccer Club, and holds tryouts each spring.
