After 21 years serving the Pella Police Department, Reserve Officer Dale Baarda has retired. Tuesday night, Mayor Dobernecker presented Baarda with a plaque to thank him for his time spent with the police department. The Newton native went into the Navy Reserves after graduating High School in 1965 then began working at Vermeer Corporation 38 years ago, where he is currently still employed.
