At a Pella School Board meeting on September, 13, Superintendent Mark Wittmer was granted early retirement. Now, over two months later, Wittmer is happy to say that the search process for the new superintendent of Pella Schools is well underway. Superintendent Wittmer tells KNIA/KRLS News that he had seven different people approach him about the position whenever he was at the Iowa Association of School Boards conference earlier this month. Wittmer adds that the search consultant Dave Els will meet with the school board on December 13-14 to narrow the field of candidates. Interviews for the position will take place starting in the middle of January and the board hopes to name the next superintendent by February 1st.
