The much anticipated basketball season gets its official start tonight for the Pella Christian boys basketball team, and few observers are more excited about the possibilities for this year’s team than Head Coach Larry Hessing. Hessing says the physical changes in his athletes from last year to this season has been amazing to see, and thinks that the hard work put in during other sports seasons will really pay off for his team this season.

“It’s amazing how much high school boys grow and mature physically throughout their high school years – even from their junior year to their senior year,” said Hessing.  “We’ve got a bunch of dedicated athletes who have played other sports and been in the weight room, and you can definitely see it on the basketball court; so I’m really excited for the strength and just the overall maturity that some of our players have reached.”

Pella Christian returns four senior starters from a team that went 15-7 last season and opens the new season tonight at West Marshall.
