Funeral Services for Arlene “Jean” Ferguson Van Wyk, age 81, will be held at 10AM Wednesday at the Iles Funeral Home-Grandview Park Chapel 3211 Hubbell Ave. in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6-8PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery, Newton, IA.

Jean was born July 7th, 1929 in Monroe, IA to Arnold and Jessie (Vande Kleft) Schippers. She lived in Knoxville, IA for over 50 years where she worked as a bank teller. Following retirement from the bank she became a secretary and bookkeeper for the Knoxville Housing Office.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sharon Kay Poole of Carlisle; two granddaughters, Kimberly Renee (James) Keck of Decorah, IA and Kristy Marie (Chad) Locke; and two brothers, Wayne (Shirley) Schippers of Otley, IA and Gary (Lila) Schippers of Knoxville; she was preceded in death by husband, Harold Eugene Ferguson in 1974; husband, Wayne Van Wyk in 1988; son Ronalad Gene Ferguson and brother DeVerne Schippers.
