First-year Central College assistant wrestling coach Jake Patacsil is looking forward to his chance to win his first title at the Midlands Championship at Evanston, Illinois on December 29th and 30th.

Patacsil is a former Big Ten Medal of Honor winner for academic and athletic achievement at Purdue University. Three times he finished third at the Midlands Tourney as an undergraduate. He then finished second a year later, following graduation. Jake was a 3-time MVP while attending Purdue.

Defending Midlands champion Steve Fittery of American University is listed as the top contender at this year’s tournament. Patacsil is listed second. Patacsil doesn’t intend on wrestling any other tournaments this year as he is firmly committed to a career in coaching.

Patacsil said he’s determined to win a Midlands crown, as it has eluded him thus far. He’ll get another shot next week.
