Central College Football Player Adds To His Award Collection

Central College defensive end Shane Wong (senior, Pleasant Hill, Southeast Polk HS) has been named to the All-America team.

Wong was a third-team selection. He is a three-time all-conference honoree. He’s the 34th Central player to receive football all-America. Dutch players have been cited 40 times.

This year, Wong had a league-leading 11 sacks for a loss of 63 yards. He also had 49 tackles, including 34 solos, with 17 tackles for loss. Wong had three passes defended, forced two fumbles and recovered one.

Wong was named the league’s defensive player of the week twice (Sept. 13 and Nov. 1). Earlier this year, honored Wong when he was selected to the team of the week (Sept. 13). Wong also received the Iowa Conference’s Most Valuable Defensive Player Award this year.
