At the Pella City Council Meeting on Tuesday, council approved a five year capital improvement program for the possible fiscal years of 2012-2016 at the Pella Municipal Airport. Pella City administrator Mike Nardini tells KNIA/KRLS News that the Federal Aviation Administration designated $150,000 in entitlement funds to the city for airport improvements. Nardini adds that the money must be used for safety items, the main reason why they are repairing the current airport. Nardini says that the jets that fly out of the current airport in Pella are to large, and they need to extend the runway.
