A disappointing harvest for most farmers in Marion County has came to and end. Justin Huebner from Two Rivers Cooperative tells KNIA/KRLS News that he expects corn yields to be about 135 bushels per acre. Huebner adds that the excessive moisture and warm nights are the reasons why corn yields were so low. Farmers did have better luck with beans this year. Huebner says that because beans do not need the nitrogen that corn does, the water didn’t affect the crop significantly. Beans have averaged a consistent 45-50 bushels per acre this season.
